mini art studio - painting with acrylics

Pin It
Painting with acrylics is very different than our usual tempera paints we use - it makes the kids feel like little artists, using canvases and easels, and "thicker" paint.

During the holiday rush, I came across boxed sets of a mini art studio by Creatology - complete with paint brushes, an easel, a set of acrylic colors, and 6 pre-outlined canvases {cars and robots for "boys" and horses and mermaids for "girls"} all for just $10 each at Micheal's. I hid these for a "rainy day" project idea, and Ava found these on Tuesday, while looking for something to do.

Perfect timing.

Noah started out attempting to fill in the outlines slowly, but then he got to business, and was determined to finish every squirt of paint on his tray...

While Ava on the other hand, enjoyed every second of it, realizing how different acrylic paints are - not easily spreadable, and rich in tone... and how she should have rationed out her colors...

When I asked her why she didn't paint the strap, she said, "Mom. Something has to be white." {smile}

Right now, Michael's is running a 40% off coupon on their website thru Saturday. Or if you sign up to receive their newsletter, you'll get a welcome 40% off coupon too.

That would make one of these sets just $6.... not bad if you want to start a mini art studio. Which also make perfect gifts for a budding artist too.

  1. I love the room color and furniture. What a great school room. My daughter would love these kits. Thanks for posting about them.
